You’re obviously a customer on Amazon or perhaps, you want to become one but you keep seeing the phrase “Prime Early Access Deals”, and like me, you must have wondered, “what does this even mean?” Well, I’d say you’re about to find out what it means and how it works. So, let’s find out.

Prime Early Access Deals

Prime Early Access is a feature on Amazon.com that gives Prime members 30-minute early access to Lightning Deals. Which leaves you with two new questions – Who is a prime member and what are Lightning Deals on Amazon?

As a prime customer, you have access to streaming video, music, e-books, free shipping and a variety of other specific services and deals on Amazon. There is an option for a 30-day free trial, but then you have to pay ($99 per year, plus a free 30-day trial or $10.99 per month). One of the perks of being an amazon prime member is that you are eligible for one- or two-day free shipping on some items amongst other perks. In some cases, you’ll even get bumped to complimentary 1-day shipping.

I should mention that if you’re a student with a valid .edu email, you can get a free six-month trial of Amazon Prime Student, which gets you all of the benefits of Prime in addition to special student-specific deals and coupons. After the 6 months is up, Prime Student will cost you half the price of regular Prime or you can pay $5.49 per month for the months that you need it. However, If you don’t want to be a Prime member, Amazon offers free standard delivery when you buy $25 worth of “eligible” items.

Why Should I Become An Amazon Prime Member? – Prime Early Access Deals

There are a good number of reasons why you should become an Amazon Prime Member. I have mentioned some of them already but for emphasis, I’ll list them one more time. So you can know what you are getting into or what you are already into if you are a registered prime member already.

Free Shipping

Free same-day delivery

Also for eligible ZIP codes, free same-day shipping is available in more than 5,000 cities in the US. Prime members can check if their ZIP code qualifies here. If you place an order before noon, the item should arrive by sometime that same day. An order placed in the evening will show up the next day.

Instant Access to Photos, Video & Music Streaming

Amazon Prime gives you free access to a large number of movies and TV shows including Amazon original series. Prime Music also offers unlimited, ad-free access to more than a million songs and thousands of playlists and stations, at a discount.

Access to Lightning Deals

You get to have an early 30-minute access to lightning deals. However, it is short-term but goes for amazing discounts on the lightning deals. High-tech and fashion goods are featured. You should be on alert though. Just because you get a 30-minute head start doesn’t mean that the product will keep waiting for you. I’d say, Be quick! All deals are only available while still in stock.

Prime membership doesn’t guarantee you’ll be able to purchase particular goods of your choice, and it’s possible that a deal could sell out before the end of the early access period.

Prime Photos. Secure unlimited photo storage on Amazon Cloud Drive.
Amazon Family. The benefits include 20 percent off diapers through its service, Subscribe & Save, and 15 percent off eligible products from your baby registry.

If you ask me, I’d say this is a cool feature. However, if you are not a frquent shopper on Amazon, this might just be excess baggage for you in terms of expenses. You can save cash and stick to the standard Amazon deals and charges if that works for you.

If you’re unsure whether Prime is right for you, consider signing up for a free trial. You’ll have 30 days to give it a test drive. However, I should mention that your credit card will be charged at the end of the 30 days. So, it’s best you cancel it beforehand if you are not interested anymore. Paid members who haven’t used their benefits are eligible for a full refund. You can’t receive a refund if any of the household members have placed a Prime-eligible order.
